What a second base costs before you even start doing the sums

Provisional teaser. What to know before a single figure is on the table.

Fixture composition

Provisional standfirst. A piece from The Numbers rubric that will later carry figures we have researched first.

Provisional text. Pieces in this rubric need room for tables and lists. The measure has to carry both without the text turning technical. This paragraph tests the transition from running text into a list.

  • First point, at the length of a real line, with no figure in it.
  • Second point, a little longer, so that wrapping inside a list item becomes visible.
  • Third point, short.
Caption (provisional): a full-width image, to test the rhythm.

Provisional text. The most important paragraph in pieces like this is the one that names the limits of the figures. Five sentences that place things rather than claim them. Again: no content, only shape. It ends with a pointer to the two Places this piece belongs to.
